Kayla O’Donnell, Founder of HumanKINDtv and HumanKIND Productions, is a writer, actor, producer, activist, and entrepreneur. While attending St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA she discovered a talent for writing and a love for the theater community. She studied at Walnut Street Theatre before moving to Chicago, IL to study at The Second City Training Program & Act One Studios.

Kayla grew up in a large family putting on shows with her siblings, cousins, and friends. She was a competitive figure skater for the USFSA until age sixteen. Her family owned a small business where she worked and learned professional skills.

In 2012, while living in Chicago, she began to work behind the camera on a series developed for HBO GO called Single Long. This led to jobs in the online content division of The Onion and industrial videos for Second City Communications.

In July of 2014, Kayla formed HumanKINDtv with the mission of creating entertainment with diverse characters for a diverse audience. She is currently in preproduction for Help Wanted: Female, a two part series with Catherine Scott Arne. She is also writing a web series called HomeTown. She is excited to get to know the Philadelphia film community and be a part of The Women’s Film Festival.
