When Déla Otimi, a shop owner at the Mikoko market for more than twenty years, complains to her husband – Apollinaire, the Mayor of their town – about the many problems that plague the market, her husband announces that the shop owners’ complaints have been heard and that the market will finally be renovated. She and the other shop owners are ecstatic, but the euphoria soon fades when Déla discovers that Apollinaire has no plans to renovate the market, but rather to replace it with a shopping mall. To protect what she holds dear, Déla is prepared to do anything, even if it means becoming her own husband’s rival for mayor in the upcoming elections!

Director’s Bio
Angela Aquereburu
Director
Born to a Guadeloupean mother and a Togolese father, Angela started producing content in Togo with her husband Jean-Luc Rabatel. The idea was to put their ideas and vision into images. Not having a name, they began by producing the pilot of a short format, Zem, which they broadcast on Dailymotion. The platform’s editorial managers fell in love with the pilot and put it on display for several days. Canal+ Overseas then ordered a 26-episode first season of the series, followed by TV5monde seasons 2 and 3.
HOSPITAL IT was their first sitcom broadcast on TV5monde and selected at the La Rochelle fiction festival. In 2023, Angela produced seasons 2 of the series OASIS for Canal + and Hospital IT for Cote Ouest. She presents and produces the magazine “Les maternelles d’Afrique” on TV5monde, season 6 of which is currently airing on TV5monde. She has been a member and jury member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
In 2024, Angela co-directed seasons 2 of the Canal + original creations “Eki” by Osso Tv and “Cacao” by Plan A. Angela likes to innovate: a member of her team nicknamed her “le flair” after she launched the successful local-language web series “Ahoé”, partly financed by the Togolese community. She has just launched a concept of “fast films”: low-budget feature-length films in the local language, which were screened for 3 months in a local cinema in Lomé. She has just finished shooting a feature film on human rights, “Mikoko”, which will be released in Togo on March 8.
Angela calls herself a “new generation” feminist. For Angela, feminism means believing in the complementarity and equity between men and women. These 2 very different genders, with equal civil rights, complement each other very well. Why else would there be 2?
